Thanks for sharing this Rick! Tell them I spent time with my Mom and got her two flower plants to add to her garden. Miss and love you all!

It's wonderful to see that the gift of writing runs in your family. I was touched by this beautiful piece your parents created together. I learned about the origin of Mother's Day and the history it carries. Thank you for sharing, Rick!

Yes, I feel pretty lucky for the good company and mutual appreciation we've always shared as writers.

Hear warming Rick. I had no idea that Mother's day was started because of war! A very moving piece.

I am also touched that you're parents wrote this. They seem like very special people. Sending them a big hug from India.

I want to piggy back on what John Souza said below—you are such a reflection of your parents!

Wow. This was awesome! Now I see where you get some of your incredible writing ability.

This was about the most fun way I could imagine to learn about the history of Mother's Day (which I did not know! so interesting!).

Thanks for sharing Rick. Love the picture of Mom, Dad, and the pupper.

Thanks. Same for me, having no idea about the origins of Mother’s day I found this very poignant. This was only going to get shared with about 9 other of my folk’s friends and definitely needed to reach a bigger crowd, so am so happy it’s being appreciated. I’ll be asking my dad for a poem again next year. Maybe I’ll ask him to explain the origins of mothers.

What a beautiful and informative poem. (And now I know the writing fruit doesn't fall far from the tree).

Please wish your mother (parents) on my behalf. They created a good one.

I loved that you shared this poem from your parents on Mother's day! What a beautiful gift and way to celebrate your mother. I also wasn't familiar with the history of Mother's day, so this was so interesting to read. Beautifully written as well, I can see where you get your writing skills from! Happy Mother's day to your mother!
