How to get fewer emails and better friends
Every single email you agree to receive should either:
Be from someone you genuinely wish to stay in touch with.
Contain useful information you intend to act upon.
Inspire you to pursue or serve something you’re passionate about.
I challenge you to apply these 3 filters to every email you receive today.
If NONE of the above apply, bravely unsubscribe from the sender.
If you’re overwhelmed by pointless emails, this is an example of a small simple risk you’ll benefit from taking.
If you’re overwhelmed by pointless friends—the same filters can be applied.
Who needs to take more risks? 🦥
You probably need more risk-taking in your life if you’re:
Feeling stuck with relationships, work, your health, or financial status.
Aware that you’re not rising to your highest potential.
Older than 40 and still busing tables at minimum wage while living in your parent’s basement.
A rule I broke this week 💃
It required tremendous commitment and resolve to stay focused on writing this newsletter when I could have been outside instead, soaking up all six of our allotted annual hours of Pacific Northwest sunshine.
I could have followed the rule Stay Comfortable in our hammock, watching the entire touching Netflix documentary about the career of pop singer Lewis Capaldi—pausing only to pillage the cupboard for tasty kitchen snacks.
But instead, I sat here for hours by the blue-light of my fat-free computer crafting this masterpiece of inspiration for professional development which, once released, is sure to produce a global outcry of appreciation that will resound from rooftops around the world.
And now, before anyone has time to tell me I’m being grandiose and overly optimistic, here’s the juicy stuff you’ve been waiting for.

Below are 7 unique risk-taking challenges that are designed to help you break each of the 7 rules.
If you haven’t already taken the Risk Finder Quiz, make sure you do that now so you’ll know which challenge will most benefit your growth.
Once you’ve identified your lowest scoring rule with the quiz, find that rule below and read the challenge.
Even just reading the challenge will plant a useful seed in your mind for the future.
If you read and take action on the challenge, however, your private victory will psychically embolden all the other rule breakers in the world.
Somewhere far away Tony Robbins himself will ask his masseuse to pause, lower the extra foamy latte he was somehow also drinking at the time, and mutter to himself “someone out there just made my day.”

Yesterday, I took the risk and struck up a conversation with someone in my neighbourhood over how cute his dogs were. Their names were "Chai" and "Coffee"!
