Today’s practice is to pick somebody who you feel is going too fast and instead of asking them to slow down, fall in behind and step on the gas. A metaphorical suggestion obviously, since I have no intention of helping to pay for your actual speeding ticket. In our personal or professional lives we may know of someone who is raring to go with a vision, a project, an activity, task, or idea they want to try, but our own fear of how it will turn out or what it might turn into can cause us to put on the brakes from behind. In re-examining what is really at stake — if it turns out that the worst thing that could happen is some lost time and perhaps we look a little silly — consider tailgating the speeder with a mood of excitement and a smile on your face.
